Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 May 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating a LAW-BUD account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What LAW-BUD is — and what it isn't
- LAW-BUD is an AI assistant that produces general legal information about UK law (England & Wales and Scotland).
- LAW-BUD is not a regulated legal services provider, is not a solicitor, and does not give legal advice within the meaning of the Legal Services Act 2007.
- You must not rely on LAW-BUD outputs as a substitute for legal advice from a qualified solicitor in any matter where rights, money, liberty, employment or housing are at stake.
- For any urgent matter (impending hearing, arrest, eviction, deadline), consult a regulated solicitor immediately.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use LAW-BUD. By using the service, you confirm you are.
4. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
- You must not share your account or impersonate someone else.
- One natural person per account; firms wishing to provision multiple seats must use the Firm tier.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use LAW-BUD to:
- Generate content intended to facilitate the commission of a criminal offence.
- Produce material that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that infringes third-party rights.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, train another model from, or otherwise systematically extract content.
- Misrepresent LAW-BUD output as legal advice given by a qualified solicitor.
- Attempt to circumvent any security feature, rate limit or paywall.
6. Subscriptions and billing
- Plans renew automatically each month unless cancelled.
- Cancel any time from Settings — you keep access until the end of the paid period; no pro-rata refunds.
- Prices include UK VAT where applicable.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend access until the issue is resolved.
7. Your content; our content
- You retain ownership of everything you upload or create in LAW-BUD.
- You grant us a limited licence to process that content solely to provide the service to you.
- The LAW-BUD brand, software, system prompts and skill-pack are our intellectual property.
8. AI output disclaimer
AI models can produce confidently-stated but inaccurate output ("hallucination"). We work hard to mitigate this — citation requirements, jurisdiction-aware prompts, a dedicated UK-law skill-pack — but cannot eliminate it. Verify statute and case citations against legislation.gov.uk or BAILII before relying on them. We are not liable for losses caused by reliance on AI output without independent verification.
9. Liability
- Nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
- Subject to that, our maximum aggregate liability to you in any 12-month period is the greater of £100 or the fees you paid us in that period.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss caused by reliance on AI output.
10. Termination
- You may close your account at any time from Settings.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
- On termination we delete your data per our Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers resident in Scotland may bring proceedings in the Scottish courts.
